5 safe havens for a Tet breakaway

5 safe havens for a Tet breakaway
If you are still chewing over what to do during the week-long Tet holiday, how about hopping on a trip to one of these destinations that have become popular among many Vietnamese people choosing to break away from endless gatherings and parties. Make sure you plan carefully for transport and accommodation since some services change during the holiday.
Sa Pa Town

The famous highlands town is well far away from busy cities – some 376 kilometers from Hanoi, and up to 1,600 meters above sea level.
In recent years, it is often hit by cold spells over the first months of the year, thus being fully covered with snow. It is a highly-appreciated change for visitors coming from other places where it is always warm and sunny.
Snow, however, can not hide blooming peach blossoms around the town. The flower’s pink color looks strikingly beautiful on the white backdrop.
Pure and romantic, Sa Pa is surely a place that should not be missed. Not to mention that many of local foods like grilled eggs and sweet potatoes are simply much tastier when eaten in the cold.
Moc Chau Plateau

Also located on the northern highlands, Moc Chau Plateau in Son La Province is not as chilly as Sa Pa. But, it is similarly beautiful during the ongoing season of peach and plum blossoms.
Many Hanoians choose the plateau, as it is closer than Sa Pa, given that it is less than 200 kilometers from the capital city. It means that they can celebrate Tet with their families for one or two days before heading to this haven.

Da Nang – Hoi An

For those who prefer sunny beaches to cold mountains, Da Nang City and Hoi An Town in the central region are among the best destinations. However, since the places also boast many historic sites, they are more suitable for long trips.
Another reason for you visit Hoi An this Tet: admission to the ancient town is free from February 18-21, which are the New Year’s Eve and the first three days of the new year.
Nha Trang

The resort town in the central province of Khanh Hoa is yet another ideal place for beach lovers. It is, however, busier than Da Nang and Hoi An with many highly-entertaining resorts like Vinpearl Land.

As the former capital of Vietnam, the city boasts a world-famous complex of royal tombs and ancient pagodas among many historic buildings.
The quiet city is known for its peaceful and somewhat holy atmosphere.
